Back to where it all started

As a long term board member, and the current president of the Designers Lighting Forum New England, I couldn’t be more proud as we begin the significant planning process to produce our fourth Boston Lights Expo.  Even more exciting is the change in venue as we are returning to the location of the first BLE in 2010, The Westin Waterfront.

 

Anyone familiar with the Seaport District has undoubtedly been amazed at the transformation that has taken place in this section of the city.  There is a new energy brought about by the significant residential construction that continues today, as well as all of the businesses that have sprung up to serve this new populace, including a number of new restaurants, the unique Lawn on D, and a new Aloft Hotel which will house many of the exhibiting manufacturers.

 We’re certainly hoping to pick up on some of this energy, and have lined up a rock-star list of presenters for the seminars.  The change in venue also allows for more exhibit space, so attendees should be prepared for over 130 displays of the latest in lighting technology from industry leaders.  From the beginning, the Expo was intended to serve as a showcase for new products introduced at Lightfair earlier in the year.  This year’s Lightfair in May was widely regarded as one of the best in recent memory, so we’re expecting the exhibit hall will be hopping!

 Sometimes it is necessary to return to the beginning in order to move ahead in a positive direction.  Returning to the Seaport, and the Westin Waterfront, we hope to solidify the future of Boston Lights Expo as the premier lighting event in the region.
