“As I began my new job in 1990 as architect AND lighting design, I quickly realized that lighting design would be my new career path. I loved every aspect of lighting design and its community. I would attend every lighting design function possible which led me to The Designer Lighting Forum (DLF). I joined the board early on and we would brainstorm about what the next year would be about. 1994-1995 we started to think that “recent finished projects” by lighting designers would be a fun and educational way to gather like-minded colleagues to “tour” completed projects. This was a great success, and I was responsible for heading up a tour of the recently repositioned Prudential Center lighting design completed by Chris Ripman of Ripman Lighting. The following year I became president and we set out future goals for education and scholarships as well as the infamous DLF boat cruise which I believe originally started at the CambridgeSide Galleria.”
